Acchans Room (JS 1x09)

Postby JFZ Teacher (George) » Tue May 24, 2005 12:32 am

This is an expirement. I haven't subtitled this at all. And also it is encoded the highest ever settings for a show on YesJapan. Let me know what you think.

Your choice

It's your choice man. Don't download it if you don't want it. It is Japan footage and I think it is cool.

Try using getright. I had this happen to me once before, and it did the trick.

Interesting show

Postby jterschak » Wed May 25, 2005 12:08 am

Even thought it was short, I really liked it. Not having subtitles wasn't much of a problem, I could understand a much of what was being said when George was talking to Acchan. I had trouble following some of the conversation with the father though. It's good listening practice though. Sometimes you need to just listen and try to figure things out on your own.

I didn't really care so much about the higher bit rate. The video looked nice, but I'd rather have a longer show than the high quality video. However, I would assume that the show was already short to begin with, and that's why you chose it for the higher encode. George, why don't you use a different codec when encoding your shows? How about Divx or Xvid? You should be able to decrease file size and keep much of the quality. Xvid is open source too, and if it creates smaller files then that just means less bandwidth that gets used when users download videos. Of course, then you have to worry about each user installing the codec on their computer, but a simple explanation and link to the proper files would clear that up.

oh, and what was with all the buttons on the toilet? I've never seen such a technologically advanced toilet. Or maybe I just don't get out enough.

Ryan do you really want your credit back? If you do then give me back the bandwidth for downloading the show :-)

WMV only?

Postby Quin » Wed May 25, 2005 3:18 am

Will this show be made available in RealPlayer format as well? I don't really have a strong preference (I dislike RealPlayer and Windows Media equally ^_^), but I thought I'd get the RealPlayer format for consistency's sake, since that's what format all my old shows are in.

Also, I'm seconding the above opinions... I'd rather have a 30- or 40-minute show in lower resolution than a 15-minute show in high resolution. But I'll still download this one regardless since I have a few spare credits.

This show better be good to be worthy of 200mb of my 200gb hard drive space (its a whole 1/1000th!!!)

No subs... 15 mins... looks to be pretty good from the pics though.

It is an expirement. Multiple experiments at once. No subs. Bigger quality. WMV Only. I am working on an Xvid version also.

I am working on an Xvid version also.

That's good to hear. I hope it works out.

If you want a full length show, just do what I did, and watch it twice. It magically becomes a full show! This works better if you have a short attention span.

I plan on watching it again, but next time I'll actually stop and look up words that I don't understand. Probably some of the best listening practice you can get is just listening to normal Japanese people having normal conversations. Well, I guess George isn't Japanese....or normal. uhhh, this post is over.
