Just out of interest, is anyone else going to the MCM Expo in May? I haven't been in a few years but I seem to remember alot of japanese speakers flocked to that, so this year could be a good year for me to go back due to now knowing some of the language, might help me meet a few other speakers who live around London, I'm from Essex so there's not many Japanese speakers where I actually live.

I'm from Cornwall. >w< wooo~

It's extremely hard to learn Japanese down here! My local college only has a once a week Japanese course from the 'Japanese for busy people' books and apparently don't do much in the line of writting and reading. D:

At least I got my Japanese from Zero books. :)

I'm from England too. Birmingham to be exact, not a place I would recommend anyone visit. Not unless you really like concrete, glass and litter. :(

I have books 1-3 and have been on the site for several months, but not the forum. I started learning Japanese a year ago from book 1 but as I had been doing karate for 14 years and Iaido + Jodo for 3 years by that point I already knew a few words and such in Japanese. :D

I'm from England as well, Newcastle to be specific. Though me and my friend can't find any good courses near, next year at college, we're going to start a japanese learning society (hey, we also managed the anime/manga society! Why not?), and try to seek out a tutor. Newcastle uni has a pretty popular japanese course, so we're hoping to find a fourth year who's looking to make a little extra cash and get that work experience on their CVs. Or, even better, a native speaker. It's a pretty big city, so there's a good chance we might find a native speaker who would want to try out some tutoring.

uuh, yeah, tl;dr. But basically. Hi! British Japanese-learner here.

Hi I'm from England, Eastbourne originally but I moved to Dundee Scotland for University. The option of a UK suitable study chat time seems really good so I hope that comes back! Compared to a lot of places in the UK, Dundee actually seems pretty good for wanting to learn Japanese. Dundee actually has a language learning centre that teaches Japanese, although I can not comment on how good this is, as I am using this website to learn currently. I think I'm one of the lucky ones in that I made a friend through a friend who also wants to learn Japanese so we have started studying together and that really helps. If you're in the UK I would recommend the website http://www.gumtree.co.uk, I've seen advertisements for people offering to tutor Japanese in my area and you can also post an ad yourself, so for people looking to find Japanese speakers or learners in their area this could be handy :-)
