I'm in Jacksonville, TX. Semi-eastern Texas, about 2 hours south of Dallas.

*I used to live in Dallas!*

I've just recently moved to San Antonio a few weeks ago from Las Vegas. Is there anyone in the area that speaks, reads, writes or have any sort of interest in Japan?

Wow. I'm the first one posting who's from Austin so far.
*feels nervous*

Guess I'd have to drive quite a ways for a meetup with my fellow Texans...
Or y'all can come on over to Austin? :thumb:
We've got great music here... ;)

I'm in Austin, as well. I'm from the North Dallas area, but I've been working down here for more than a year. I've been on self-study for about two years, and I spent a few months in NW Osaka over the winter of 2009-2010. I'm game to meet up if anyone's interested.

Originally from San Francisco area, but living in DFW now. More FW—Watauga, to be exact. Still early in my studies (still less than a year) and can't speak for sh$#, or comprehend much, but will hopefully at some point feel comfortable enough to attend a meetup or something. Gotta get out of the comfort zone eventually!

There is Hong Kong Market in Grand Prairie. The store has a japanese/korean aisle. Plus it has a frozen section which has frozen dumplings, dons, fish cakes, and noodles. And they have lots of asian vegetables and also a refrigerated section for tofu and dumplings. In arlington about 1 mile from Hong Kong Market is Hiep Thai, it is more Vietnamese and Thai, but they do have a great produce section and also have a big selection of sauces and noodles. Both stores are on Pioneer Parkway.

Hmart in Carrolton is also a great place. It is a Korean grocery but it has Japanese items too, plus a food court. And almost all the stores in the plaza are Korean shops and restaurants.
