studying in japan...

Postby andri_thio » Wed Jan 28, 2009 1:22 am

My sister did a study tour to china for a month to learn mandarin and after the trip, her mandarin improved a lot. She had lots of fun on her trip too. I'm wondering if anyone is able to recommend a similar study tour to japan for like a month or so, to learn japanese.

this response is a tad late, however, here goes...
I studied (4 wks, then returned for another 2 wks) at Yamasa institute in Okazaki, Aichi-ken (near Nagoya). It was brilliant - even has its own little bar on campus, for a nice weekend thirst quencher. Teachers were very patient, helpful & encouraging. Great student support & good accommodation close to school. There is a good variety of course types & short duration is no problem -see their website. www.yamasa.org/
Okazaki is a great place if you love Japanese history & also it is easy to travel to kyoto, Nara, Tokyo (~ 2 hrs by shinkansen). I wish that i could have stayed longer.
Enjoy -wherever you go.

A while back I studied at GenkiJACS and wrote a detailed review of it here:

Hope it helps  There are a LOT of Japanese language schools though, in fact you can find a list of Japanese language schools throughout Japan here: http://www.aikgroup.co.jp/j-school/index.htm
