ボケ!

Yeah, I always thought that was kind of funny, and it's used as a noun in photography. "The bokeh of this lens is really good." "I like the bokeh in this photo."

I thought あいまい ("fuzzy") would have been more appropriate, but they didn't ask me. And that is one sad-looking avatar!

Sounds like people are trying to make this a philosophical issue, but I think it's just a business decision. If there were two Japanese learning sites with similar quality, but one offers redownloading for free, but another doesn't, then there's a better than even chance I'll go with the one that do...

Yes, if you buy and download track from iTunes, then lose the track for whatever reason, there's a command under the Advanced menu called "Check for Purchases..." which will see if you've bought songs from iTunes that are not in your iTunes library. If there is, it gives you the option to download i...

Rumiko

Just in haven's defense, even I know who Rumiko Takahashi is, and I don't read manga. She does seem to be quite famous even outside of manga circles.

FUD

I just saved a file from QT Pro 7.0.3 yesterday that had a 50-character filename. I know it supports up to the 255-character maximum filename supported on OSX. Maybe something weird about QT on Windows; no idea. I share your pain with QT on Windows, the little bit I've used it.

Thanks for ge...

dl.tv

dl.tv produces an iPod video version of their show twice a week. I just downloaded a 42-minute episode and it clocked in at 188MB. I don't know specifically what process they use. They use H.264 encoding, which is great at compression, but not so great with encoding times.

Sounds like George...

There's something unusual about racism though that makes me think humans have to go through a neurological change to erase it, and if that change happend, something could get worse. It can be reduced significantly through education, but all it takes is a crisis to bring it back. The reason is that h...

I see what you mean, brianca. Being wealthy and educated does not mean you're not racist, absolutely. But I meant the reverse causality. To set up the (unrealistic) condition of no racism, everyone must be wealthy and educated. If some people are not wealthy, they are eventually going to get angry a...

From the outside looking in, I'd be hard-pressed to call any of the three major world religions "peaceful religions." Not that they're inherently violent, just that peacefulness isn't at their cores, though individual practitioners have promoted peacefulness, such as Jesus.

The problem as I ...

You are right! I don't know what it is that you know. I don't know what hopelessness and grief you feel, not that this has much to do with my post, which suggests that blaming the acquisition of knowledge for your grief and feelings of hopelessness might be short-sighted.

Then I also submit ...

"After what I have experienced over the past five years of constant studying and contemplation and awakening I can asuredly argue that it makes you miserable. I think the "L" trick is Windows only. On Mac (I seem to remember brianca as a Mac user, but could be wrong; nice explanation for this problem though) you should make that the "X" trick. Type 'xtsu' and you get っ.
