 member since 2015 Dec 22 Questions: 13 Comments: 11 | On counting animals it seems to me the use of ひ び and ぴ is random. To get the easy way out when I answer question or talk I think using 'biki' is ok Or do I have to memorise all individualities？ Tks. | |||

Yes, you have to memorize them all individually. びき (BIKI) = #3 - using だくてん (DAKUTEN/two short lines) ぴき (PIKI) = #1, 6, 8 and 0 - using はんだくてん (HAN-DAKUTEN/a little circle) ひき (HIKI) = other numbers This pattern is similar to counting hundreds. びゃく (BYAKU) = 300 - using だくてん ぴゃく (PYAKU) = 600, 800 - using はんだくてん ひゃく (HYAKU) = other numbers がんばってください！ | ||
