Does the meaning of "NOMU" change to "to take" when referring to medicine? Does the same rule apply to taking VITAMINS as it does to taking medicine? | |||||

This is a good question! "NOMU" is used when you take medicine orally. For example: 1) 今日、風邪薬を飲みました。 Kyou, kaze gusuri o nomimashita. Today I took some cold medicine. 2) 私は毎日、ビタミン剤を飲みます。 Watashi wa mainichi, bitamin zai o nomimasu. I take vitamins everyday. We also use "NOMU" when we have/eat soup. For example: 3) 今晩はお味噌汁を飲みました。 Konban wa omisoshiru o nomimashita. Tonight I had some miso soup. 4) トマトスープが飲みたいです。 Tomato suupu ga nomitai desu. I want to have tomato soup. Let me ask you a question :) Eijiooさんは今日、何を飲みましたか。 Eijioo san wa kyou, nani o nomimashitaka. | ||

Your first answer is correct! Good job! As for the second answer, you need to say ITAKATTA because ITAI is an I-adjective. Here is the correct sentence: あたまが いたかったから、アスピリンを のみました。 Atama ga itakatta kara, asupirin o nomimashita. I took some aspirin, because I had a headache. Ganbatte kudasai! | ||
