Question to Teacher: Can the kanji for 1 be read as "tsui"?

TSUI is a one of a kind reading for 一. I have never seen it listed in books teaching Japanese children Kanji. This is why YesJapan.com also doesn't mention it. George | |||

Tusitachi is from 月立ち tsuki-tachi, or month-stand. Here 'tachi' means 'beginning'. 一日 cannot be broken down into tsui+tachi. The reading for the two characters in combination is 'tsuitachi'. | |||
