PROGRESSIVE LEARNING
The goal of YesJapan.com is to help you speak, read, and write Japanese!

Students may choose at any time to view their lessons in different formats.
Simply click the to change your lesson format to:
* Romaji - All Japanese words are spelled in Roman (ABC) letters
* Progressive - Replaces text step-by-step with Japanese characters that you learn in each lesson
* Hiragana Only - Uses the Japanese alphabet for native Japanese words
* Hiragana / Katakana - Uses the Japanese alphabet for Japanese and foreign words

* Kanji + - Uses advanced symbols (Kanji) in addition to Hiragana/Katakana

The default setting for all new members is Progressive.

When you log in to YesJapan.com, you will be taken to the "YJ Updates" Members Home Page, where you can see the latest Ask-a-Teacher and Ask-a-Student questions submitted by other members.

Ask-a-Teacher questions may be submitted by any user from within the lessons. You will be able to see your answer by clicking the My Questions link on the Help page.

Ask-a-Student questions may be submitted at any time from the Help page.

NAVIGATION
To access your courses, choose the desired Course button on the top menu.

From there you may select your lesson.

You may also click the My Last Lesson link on the side menu to take you to the exact point where you left off on your last visit to the website.

Once inside the lesson, you may use the BACK and FORWARD buttons to take you backward and forward through the course you are viewing.

The side menu will show you all the sections and sub-sections your lesson page. You may collapse/expand your menu at any time by clicking the + icon next to the headings.

SOUNDS
YesJapan.com has over 10,000 sound files to help you learn by listening as well as reading. By clicking on the button, you can hear how each word is pronounced.

These sounds will play automatically in your browser without opening a separate window or player. Please allow 1-2 seconds for each sound to begin playing.
